What follows is a message from a NASA Globe representative identifying two sites which provide monetary support to getting your school WIRED to the Internet and registering your school for Free Computer Equipment! All K-12 public non-profit schools are eligible, with a special emphasis for schools located within an Empowerment Zone. Links to Nationwide maps will let you know if your school is in one of these zones! Please read/disseminate as appropriate.

I want to make sure you are aware of two programs aimed at helping improve the technology infrastructure in schools and libraries through the country. The "Schools and Libraries Universal Service Fund" was created to ensure that all eligible schools and libraries in the United States have affordable access to modern telecommunications and information services. All K-12 schools (public and private) and public libraries qualify for the program and receive discounts according to their level of economic disadvantage (based on the percentage of students eligible for the national school lunch program) and their location--rural or urban. The Computers for Learning program http://www.computers.fed.gov/ allows schools and educational nonprofits to register on the web to receive free computer equipment.
